August 2017 - Frinton Junior & Open Tournament

While a trio of our players were at Wimbledon, the rest of Team Appeti were at the seaside town of Frinton, Essex.

Frinton Lawn Tennis Club is home to 16 grass courts and 8 all-weather courts and the week Started with the 8 and under age group. Ashleigh played some fantastic tennis which saw her win all 5 of her box matches finishing first, she then had a tough match in the semi-finals narrowly losing out to the eventual winner!

In the 12 and under boys, Charlie Clements had a fantastic tournament reaching the quarter finals, beating the number 8 seed 10-7 in a 3rd set tiebreak on the way. He then met the 1st seed and couldn't quite take him down, but a great performance from Charlie!

In the 14 and under boys, Seb made the quarter finals after facing the tough task of knocking out close practice partner Kai in the process. Seb then came up against the solid number 5 seed and couldn’t quite settle into the match, but still a good effort from Seb.

In the 14 and under girls, Marta made it to the semi-finals after 2 comfortable wins in her earlier matches. Her semi final match saw her lose to a very strong number 1 seed, who went on to win the final.

Also in the 14’s Amelia had a tough first round against the number 3 seed and unfortunately lost out, but went on to win the consolation draw with 3 straight set wins.

The 16 and under boys saw Seb and John-Mark play each other in the consolation semi-finals, with Seb coming out on top in that one. He couldn’t quite make 1 more win when in the final as he lost out in an agonising 10-8 3rd set tiebreak!

In the Men’s Open event, Ollie made the semi-finals he came up against the number 1 seed and couldn't quite make the final.

The 15 and under mixed doubles yielded great results draw with Seb and Amelia making it to the semi-finals. Our victory of the week came same draw with Ollie and Marta claiming the crown, winning a thrilling final 6-7, 7-5, 10-7!

A tough week for Team Appeti, with several matches which could have gone either way. Nevertheless, it was still filled with great effort and intensity from our players!
