Keen players turned up for the official opening of the Appeti Tennis Centre Canterbury at the Canterbury High School.
One of them was Ffion Newberry, a promising young player from Canterbury. Ffion has been playing tennis since she was 7 and living in London. Ffion’s father is very excited about the prospect of her training at Canterbury. The contrast between tennis provision in London and Canterbury has been huge and Mr Newberry has been taking Ffion to Maidstone 3 times a week to train.
The state of the art centre is to be used by as many local people as possible.
The Director of Sport at The Canterbury High School, John Watson is over the moon about the new facility. He said “We could have a future champion here. I cannot imagine there is a school in the UK with better sporting facility than this one.
