On Monday 18th June The Appeti Tennis Centre went on their 7th annual trip to The Aegon International Tennis at Eastbourne. The party of nineteen arrived as the gates opened to make the most of their day. Within a short while the youngsters were checking out their front row seats on centre court before heading off to the practice courts to see who was about!
It wasn’t long till the group went in different directions with some heading back to watch Hantuchova beating Keothavong on centre court while the others stood watching the stars of the future Bernard Tomic and Ryan Harrison. However the highspot for most of our players and coaches was when Andy Roddick took to the courts where he practised for an hour under the close supervision of Tim and our youngsters. It was a really inspirational opportunity for everyone to see Andy playing so well and being so dedicated to improving his game.
Ice-creams were then the order of the day with the group taking a break and heading to the parlour just across from the grounds where a great range of sundaes were sampled!!!!
After it was back to tennis and a visit to the play tennis area where both coaches and children had fun on the various bases there. Then there was just chance for some last minute photos and autographs before it was time to head back to Canterbury.
A great day was had by all and we are all looking forward to Eastbourne 2013!!
